Simple beaded bracelets

Two months of this year have passed away with the blink of an eye, don't you feel so?

Recently my cousin gave her broken bracelet for repair. She was under the impression that I could repair it.  I didn't want to disappoint her and keenly wanted to give it a try. She wanted it to be re-strung as it paired with other accessories like necklace and earring.
While re-doing her bracelet, I realized it's very simple. All that had to be done was stringing the beads in a stretchable elastic chord.
I made a few for myself with few wooden beads and silver, and golden colored beads. It's not glamorous but for a simple person like me definitely wearable -:))

All I did was string them and tie them in the end.

Things you require
Here is the first one that I made, about 7 inch long in length. You can see the knot, which is not so appealing. Hence for the other two bracelets I took a slightly different shaped bead with a larger hole and hid the knot under/inside it applying a bit of glue on the knot.

The whole process was super easy and took only less than 10 minutes.

Recycled Jute Vase

I love Jute and to recycle anything possible. Having length of Jute twines at home made me to think of recycling a can into a vase. These cans were lying with me when we bought Fastrack watches last year.
Its super easy and only takes less than an hour.

Things you need :
1. Jute twines ( The length depends on the can)
2. Colorful yarn Pom Poms
3. Fevicol
4. Needle and thread.
5. Can(Tin or any material)

1. I started from the base of the can and worked way up to the top. Apply thick line of glue to the base/bottom of the can. Start sticking the jute twine. After sticking one round around the can, wait for five minutes for the glue to dry.

2. Apply glue in a thick line around the can and stick the twine close together. There should not be any gap.

3. After a couple of rounds of sticking, stich the pom pom to the twine and continue gluing and sticking.

4. Stich the pom pom at required interval and continue sticking, gluing till you reach the top.

5. Voila!! You are done..

I used pom pom because they are easy to create. You can try sticking other things like felt flowers, paper flowers, buttons or beads onto jute.

Since Jute and the color green make an excellent pair, I took a small bottle and placed some leaves and plants..

Mango... in progress

In India, it's the time for the Mango fruit tree to produce beautiful off white to pale yellow blooms.  The mango tree in my backyard garden is no exception. I am waiting eagerly for the spring to arrive to see them developing into tiny tender mangoes.

Have a nice weekend!

Yesterday while pruning my plants I gathered these Tulsi flowers. Instead of being thrown away, they are now sitting prettily on the breakfast table. Wonderful way to invite the weekend. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Paper Bag flowers

What do you do with the paper bag that comes with your shopping? Me, I put gift inside and give it to the intended person or use them for carrying light things till they are worn out. This time the designs on the paper bag made me do these simple flowers. While doing them I realized the underneath of the paper is white. But since this idea was already in my mind I decided to proceed and do them. Tell me what do you think of them.

Things you need..
  • Paper bag preferably same color on both sides
  • Scissor
  • Pencil
  • Small pom poms of your choice
  • Floral wire and tape.
1. Cut open the paper bag carefully from all four sides .
2. Make horizontal stripes and fold each stripe of desired width of the petal.
3. Cut the petals to the desired shape. For these flowers I used 5 petals each.

 4. I used small brown pom pom. Take desired length of floral wire for the stem. I made few longer and some shorter stems whose length was like half of my palms. Insert the pop pom through it.

5. Take another floral wire and tie each petal around the stem and the center tightly. The flower now would be in closed shape.

6. Take the green color floral tape for the stem and wrap it around the floral wire.
7. Open all the petals carefully.
8. Put them into vase and enjoy!

Paper Reed flowers

Hello my dear friends, readers wish you all a wonderful 2015.. Hope it brings you lot of joy, and happiness!!

Pinterest is awesome place to explore creativity with paper. Creating paper reeds is a great way to recycle your old magazines. So many amazing things can be created from these paper reeds! Coasters, basket, frames.. the list is endless.

Most of DIY by me don't see the blogging world :)), because it would have turned out not so nice, or a total failure or sometimes I am simply lazy to post it.  As a new resolution I am posting here reed flowers that I made from the paper reeds.

First you need to make lots of paper reeds. Doing paper straw or reed is pretty simple. Follow this tutorial here for making paper reeds
Flatten these straw like reeds by rolling them against a pen. This is bit tough if the reed is strong.
Start rolling the flattened reed around the same pen. Put a dot of glue/fevicol in the end to prevent it from unrolling.
Join these circles in a flower fashion using fevicol and later tie them with colorful threads for stability.

Unknown tree..

This unknown tree is yielding lot of inedible fruits similar to olives.. They keep falling on us while we are playing in the park. It's a pretty sight where you can see bunch of fruits and less leaves..
The park cleaner has a tough time everyday cleaning the fallen fruits..

Anybody knows the name of the tree?
